College Hoops - Cal State University - San Marcos, CA.

The madness is approaching! March Madness that is! College basketball is in full effect and nearing the end of the season.  Initially, in the video production and video board world, only professional arenas were outfitted with video boards to display content, replay and live action. Fast forward to today and a majority of NCAA Division I schools have this technology and use it to enhance the game experience for fans as well as capture their footage for post production use.

Not only are Division I schools utilizing this technology, but also Division II and III schools are implementing this technology into their arenas.

With the popularity of video increasing over the web and social media, Division II and III schools are taking advantage of this technology to provide live web streams to their fans and archive the events for viewing at a later date. Selecting a video production system that serves a dual purpose is a popular and cost effective choice among schools that gives them the ability to capture/stream to the web and send content to the arena.

Cal State University in San Marcos California (CSUSM)  is doing just that with a newly integrated video system that was installed in their brand new arena - The Sports Center.  CSUSM selected Nevco to integrate the scoring system as well as video displays located in the arena and MSG to integrate the front end video system (video switching, capture, replay, camera systems, and more).

The arena is wired with SDI, audio, data and intercom tie lines at each baseline and the center court location.  This allows for cameras, belt packs, microphones and various transmit-receive devices to be connected.  There is a main PTZ camera mounted at high center court to follow the action as well as a PTZ camera mounted on one of the baseline walls for coaching purposes.
